Party has completely overhauled their software, and have done a fair amount of changes to their game offerings. Most imporantly, they now have 6-max at every LHE level, including 20/40 and 30/60. The 30/60 seems to be restricted so I haven't played that yet, but the 20/40 is wide open and amazing. I've been playing that the last couple days and doing great.

What is it about 6-max that attracts all these amazingly bad players? So many guys will raise and reraise with absolutely nothing. I guess it works on some people, but anyone with half a brain will catch on quickly. The level of play definitely reminds me of the level of play at the old 10/20 6-max games, although perhaps a bit more aggressive.

I'm definitely enjoying myself more than I have in a while. Full ring games have gotten to be quite a chore, with everyone sitting around waiting for AQ or better (and, being full ring, it's always out there). 6-max allows for a little bit more creativity, and I can play more hands and be more aggressive with weaker holdings. I mean, who doesn't like to raise, raise, raise?

Combined with better tournament stuctures, their acceler8or program, and a new store that is supposed to have lots of cool stuff, Party seems intent on not only having me not play on any other sites, but not even play live any more! And, golly, it just might work.

I'm donkeying up their nl200 and nl400 and doing pretty well. Enjoying it even.

So basically, it's a great pattern I've got going these days. Play shorthanded limit until I hate it/run bad, then switch to NL and play until I hate it/run bad, and then go back to limit. repeat.

Of course, the cycle doesn't happen that often because I'm not playing that much poker.

I made a similar post in my blog. I always thought their table software was good but their lobby shite! Now that they've improved their lobby, and introduced the 'tiling' feature ... well, it might attract me back to Party once more!

I'm very impressed!

they also added 30/60 stud, stud8 and omaha8 and improved the ante structure of the stud games. also, they limited the 10/20 PLO games, which will be great for the long-term health of the big bet omaha games. finally party does some things correctly.

Party's acceler-8-tor promo is one where high volume players get a weekly bonus if they earn a certain number of party points for that week. You also get additional bonuses for earning extra points in the week, and for hitting your weekly goal multiple weeks. The entire promo lasts 8 weeks. I believe you have to be a VIP to get an offer (this is replacing their previous VIP offers, at least for the time being).

More info can be found here

ps, a couple more things -

1) to become a VIP you have to play a high volume of hands for a month or two. Often, people have had to email them asking to become a VIP.

2) as you can see from the link, the acceler-8-tor program started about a week and a half ago, and so it might be too late to get on the boat yourself. But who knows, maybe you can finangle a partial offer out of them. Otherwise, it might be worth your while to spend the next few weeks becoming a VIP so that when this promo is over, you get the next round of offers.

Any idea what it takes exactly to become a VIP, and what offers that entitles you to over and above the Player's Club?

I can't seem to find any info on the Party website about this.

If you search the internet forum on 2+2 they'll probably know somewhere exactly. It's probably points related, like 5000 points in a month or for two months in a row or whatever.

What it entitles you to is VIP offers like the acceler8tor promotion or what they were doing previously which was a monthly "earn X points over Y time and get $Z."

There might also be additional freeroll tournies and such. I think for the "Cabin Fever" promotion, if a VIP won a cabin, they also got $500, whereas if a non-VIP won a cabin they didn't get any additional $$.

Just email them and ask to become a VIP. They'll either let you in, or tell you what you need to do to get there.

I don't think this needs to be said, but I will anyway: Keep playing live.

It's a good change of pace from the humdrum online. And it gets you out of the house. Plus, you need all the comps so you can get me a free Bellagio buffet.

oh i'll keep playing live. It'll just be a lot less often. Especially with the way things have been going at the new 6max tables.
